Studied Graphic Design & Illustration at St.-Lucas, Ghent; and free-lance illustrator /designer since 1990.

Illustration and graphic design for publishers in Belgium: Clavis/Afijn, Davidsfonds, de Eenhoorn, Baeckens Books, Standaard Publishers, The House of Books, Abimo, Houtekiet.

Foreign publishers (illustration): Artis (France, Switserland, Canada), Zirkoon, Zwijsen, Meulenhof, Wolters-Kluwer (Netherlands), Löwe-Verlag, KBC, Arena (Germany), Rouergue (France), Foreign Rights (China).

In 1998, he worked in Lisbon (Portugal) as storyboarder for the movie “A Viaghem” (director: G. Boustany/ D&D Productions/Ace Editing). This movie was shown at the Portuguese Pavilion Worldexpo ’98.

Prices: several nominations for Children & Youth Jury Flanders/ the Netherlands. Won in 2006 a ‘White Raven’ for “Kol, poes, uil en raaf” (de Eenhoorn, Minne-Olaerts) at the Bologna Book Fair (Italy).

“The primal expression of children drawings are my fundamental inspiration. I often use drawings of my own or other children in illustrations. I have ‘learned’ to draw, children just do it.”
