Segers Lieven

Visual artist Lieven Segers (°1975) collects small moments, stories, of his own close surrounding that are far from having a documentary style. They are framed, transformed with a humorous, sarcastic or critical view towards art, and daily situations, with an attitude that could resemble that of an old court joker. The issues that are pointed at and the way to do it are very close to the ordinary, making the distance between the viewer and the thoughts smaller.

Since 2009 he is active as an artistic phd researcher about art and humour (at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp). This research project resulted already in numerous exhibitions, curatorial projects, artist books, lectures, filmprograms and masterclasses with students.
